Q: What is the maximum operating temperature of your strips and what is the life cycle value, at which temperature is estimated?
A: For an LED strip in a typical room temperature environment of 25 C, you can expect the LED strip to reach upwards of 50 C (High power strips only) but it is able to withstand temperatures of > 65 C (Hi-Line's IP68 strips are made to withstand sauna temperatures of 110 C). If the temperature is never likely to increase beyond 50 C, you can expect a life cycle of 50,000 hours. At 65 C or higher, life cycle clocks in at 35,000 hours.
The heat emitted by the LEDs on a light strip is quickly transmitted to the circuit board. We do strongly suggest mounting your LED strip (especially high-powered strips) onto an aluminium flat bar or within an aluminium profile to help with heat dissipation and thus improve the life cycle of your lighting. This will place the chip boards at great ease, ensuring that you can enjoy your LED strip lighting for many years.
