COB stands for "Chip-on-Board": a new kind of LED technology, in which an LED diode is bonded to the circuit board itself, with multiple LED chips being placed into a single module, providing the effect of a panel light and therefore resulting in a perfect dot-free effect.
COB is designed for optimal efficiency and greater lifespans, as fewer components (for example, no spot soldering is required) are used during the manufacturing process, allowing focus to be placed on lower heat emission, which results in even greater efficiency over standard LED strips and reduces the chances of failure over a certain period of time.
Because COB LED strips are even more densely packed than regular LEDs, we can achieve greater beam angles, which have improved CRI (Colour Rendering Index) ratings for a more natural appearance of colours.
As exciting as this news is, COB technology is still in its infancy and there are kinks to be ironed out. Hi-Line Lighting, however, has successfully tested these LED strips and we're very pleased to now be offering them for sale. You can find out more on our website HERE or contact us for details.
