Q: Can your DALI DT8 controllers allow for independent addressing for each channel?
A: No. Any DALI Type 8 (DT8) device will only allow for "one address" per controller. DT8 refers to the controller allowing for the changing of colours or colour temperature using one address only, as well as adjusting the intensity of brightness within an area where the device needs to operate on RGB/RGBW commands.
DALI DT8 should not be confused with DALI DT6. The DT6 (or Type 6) is a standard type controller which uses one address per channel. For example, a Type 6 DALI Controller will use four addresses, one per colour.
Our DALI DT8 RGBW XY and Dali DT8 RGBW models can also cause some confusion between them but it's worth pointing out that these follow similar traits:
1. Both are Type 8.
2. Both use one DALI address for all four colours (RGBW).
3. Both require a DALI master controller which supports DALI Type 8 devices.
4. A DALI master will not be able to control both controllers; if your DALI master can support DT8 then it comes down to a matter of supporting "XY Coordinates". Some DALI master controllers will only support Type 8 and not Type 8 "XY".
