Q: Can Hi-Line Lighting's IP68 LED Strips operate in minus 30 degree temperatures?
A: Our IP68 LED Strips are capable of withstanding around minus 25 degrees Celsius. This is something that we are confident in detailing. Going any higher than this temperature is done so at your own risk. While technically it should be okay, there are other variables to consider. For example: When a strip with coating such as Polyurethane is exposed to extreme cold over a lengthy duration, it can become so cold that it may become brittle to the touch. We therefore advise that in order to try and prologue its life, you consider profiles and adequate housing. Much like if you were to install underwater, the warranty for this would drop to cover just 1 year.
IP68 is always the more difficult type of strip to deal with, as it requires manually stripping back the PU coating and soldering, prior to sealing with Liquid Electrical Tape or Heat-Shrink.
Hi-Line Lighting will only manufacture and supply proven-tested equipment. If it's not on our website, it's because the technology hasn't been reliably made available. If you have any questions regarding IP68 LED Strips, please contact us on 020 3322 9192 or email support@hiline-lighting.com
