When working with Drivers for LED Strips, it's important to ensure that your plug connections are properly researched. We usually recommend that you use a 3 amp fuse when connecting Drivers, to be sure that you have a stable installation.
A 3 amp fuse is more commonly used for appliances such as lamps, freezers, computers, consoles and television sets, which don't draw beyond 700 watts of power. As we don't supply Drivers any greater than 400W, it makes sense to keep to a low fuse for safety reasons.
13 amp fuses on the other hand, are common in many household items, such as toasters, washing machines and kettles, which can use anywhere for up to 3000 watts.
So, when connecting your Driver to a fresh plug, please make sure that the plug is of good quality. Always take care when attaching your Live, Earth and Neutral wires. They should be as follows:
Brown to live (L)
Blue to neutral (N)
Green and Yellow to earth (E)
Ensure that all screws, cable grip and fuse case are tightly secured. Once the cover has been replaced and the power supply is functioning, check that there is no overheating from the plug into the socket.
