A common misunderstanding by those who wish to install LED Strips underwater, in Saunas or Steam Rooms, or outside areas where rain and snow may cause significant problems, is assuming that IP68 Strips will simply be enough to protect from any water damage.
What isn't immediately clear, is that while the LED Strip itself can withstand being submerged underwater, we must also consider the connecting cables being used and how essential it is to protect them from any elements which are able to get through.
All of our LED Strips come with pre-soldered wire tails (15cm) at both ends of the roll. In order to safeguard our LED Strip ends from unwanted intrusion, we generally recommend that you consider using Liquid Electrical Tape when it comes to sealing your connections. This also applies to any areas of the LED Strip which needs to be cut and soldered. ALL joinings made MUST be cared for.
Liquid Electrical Tape is a rubber-based, brush-on coating, which acts as a substitute for Electrical Tape, providing an efficient solution to sealing areas which meet particular requirements. It's made by various manufacturers and is easily obtainable.
