Question:
What is the configuration for a multiple zones LED strip installation (single colour, RGBW or both single and RGBW LED strips)?
Answer:
For any multi-zone installation, the RGBW wireless controller (RGBW-RX01E) is required for either single or multi-colour configuration. This controller has 4 output channels (R, G, B, W) and each channel has an output of 5A.
The following guide is based on a suggested configuration for single colour, multi-colour or a combination of colours for LED strip installations.
Single Colour Installation:
Hi-Line products:
- Single Colour LED strip
- Non – dimmable driver(s)
The type and number of drivers depend on the type and length of the LED strip used for the installation. Please refer to the “Installation of LED Strips” file for further information.
At least one driver is required per lighting zone.
For all LED strip installations, it is strongly advised to use Switch Mode power supply.
All Hi-Line power supplies are Switch Mode (LED drivers). - RGBW wireless controller - RGBW-RX01E
5A per channel
It is suggested to avoid fully loading the wireless controllers, in order to avoid overheating and therefore extend its life.
At least one controller is required per lighting zone. - Multiple zones single colour remote control - SC5ZTX01
This remote control can control up to 5 lighting zones.
There are 2 different types of configurations that can be applied on a multizone, single colour LED strip installation.
Configuration A:
This connects the four output channels of the controller separately, which means that each connected channel has a maximum output power of 5A x 24V = 120W (assuming that 24V LED strip are used).
It is suggested to load the controller up to 100W per channel. All the LED strips connected to the controller are controlled simultaneously as one zone.
Configuration B:
This merges all four channels of the controller in one output, which means that the output power is 4 x 5A x 24V = 480W (assuming 24V LED strips are used).
It is suggested to load the controller up to 300W. Good air-ventilation of the controller's mounting area can increase this suggested limit.
Colour changing Installation (RGBW LED strips):
Hi-Line products:
- RGB/RGBW LED strip
- Non – dimmable driver(s)
The type and number of drivers depend on the type and length of the LED strip used for the installation. Please refer to the “Installation of LED Strips” file for further information.
At least one driver is required per lighting zone.
For all LED strip installations, it is strongly advised to use Switch Mode power supply.

It Is suggested to avoid fully loading the wireless controllers, to avoid overheating and therefore extend its life.
At least one controller is required per lighting zone. - Multiple zones RGBW remote control - RGBW-RF-6Z
This remote control can control up to 6 lighting zones.
For the RGBW LED strip installation, all 4 channels of the controller are used for the LED strip, therefore the maximum output power is 4 x 5A x 24V = 480W (assuming that 24V LED strips are used). It is suggested to load the controller up to 300W. Good air-ventilation of the controller's mounting area can increase this suggested limit

A combination of Single colour and colour changing LED strips installation (single and RGBW strips), using one remote control:
Hi-Line products:
- RGB/RGBW LED strip
Single colour LED strip - Non – dimmable driver(s)

In this installation the single colour LED strip is connected to the ‘W’ channel of the wireless controller. Therefore, it is controlled using the ‘W’ button on the multizone remote control for the relevant zone.
