We sell two different kinds of IP65 strips. One is a standard model with "gel coating", the second is "Nano coating".
The Nano model looks like the non-waterproof strips (IP00) but they are still rated to IP65. The difference is that they can be cut and soldered much easier than the standard IP65 strips with thicker "gel coating", even if they appear to be otherwise. Regarding Nano waterproof strips (IP65), we have recently introduced a new version: "Nano-PU", which has better cooling characteristics.
If you need to find all nano IP65 products that we sell, you can use the website "refine by" filter to the left of the page and select "nano waterproof".
Just to avoid any confusion, IP65 is the standard that defines precisely the "waterproof" rating of the strip; however, this doesn't mean that it's strictly protected from all kinds of water damage.
The best description for IP65 would be that it's "Splash-Proof" as it cannot be immersed in water. Higher IP ratings of IP67 or IP68 is recommended for outdoor and underwater usage. IP68 strips can be installed underwater permanently if necessary and is the absolute best choice for safest protection against water. There are several ways to produce IP68 strips and we strongly believe that Hi-Line's latest IP68-PU strips is the best quality of IP68 strips available in the market today.
